
On March 21, 2026, the Asia Pacific International Academic Symposium on Art Healing and Emotional Works Exhibition with the theme of "Oriental Heart Image · Beautiful Future" was held at the Qingdao Institute of Art and Science Innovation, Tsinghua University. This event is guided by the China Association for the Promotion of Culture and Arts Development and the China Construction Culture and Arts Association, hosted by the Traditional Culture Education Professional Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Culture and Arts Development, and jointly organized by the Tsinghua Qingdao Institute of Art and Science Innovation, the Asian Art Healing Research Institute, and the Asian Lacquer Art Research Institute. More than 200 experts, scholars, and university representatives from countries such as China, Thailand, and Australia gathered together to conduct in-depth discussions on the theoretical construction, practical paths, and interdisciplinary integration of art therapy.

The seminar received high attention from all walks of life, including Zhang Haidi, chairman of the 5th, 6th and 7th presidium of the China Disabled Persons' Federation and honorary president of Rehabilitation University, Dong Erdan, academician of the CAE Member and president of Rehabilitation University, Xu Yanjun, a second level researcher of the Health Bureau of Qingdao West Coast New Area, Zeng Jinsong, secretary-general of the Institute of Global Common Development of Tsinghua University and vice president of Chia Tai Group, Zou Zhirui, professor of Beijing Dance Academy and former director of the ballet department, chief professor and doctoral supervisor of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, Wang Jiansong, executive vice president of the Academy of Arts and Scientific Innovation of Tsinghua University, Xie Qihong, director of the Training Center of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, and Kumko, president of the Academy of Arts and Applied Arts of Chulalongkorn University m Pornprasit Invited experts and professors, as well as department leaders and experts in the field of art therapy from over 100 universities across the country, including Rehabilitation University, Northeast Agricultural University Art School, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Art School, Minjiang University Art School, etc., gathered diverse wisdom for the development of art therapy and witnessed the launch ceremony of the Asia Pacific Art Therapy Alliance together.

Opening Ceremony and Alliance Launch: Healing Voyage from Multiple Perspectives
At 8am, the meeting kicked off in a solemn and lively atmosphere. The graduate student team led by Associate Professor Dong De from the School of Music at Hainan Normal University opened the entire venue with a tense emotional performance of "Madness and Civilization", using body language to question the boundaries of reason and emotion, which deeply resonated with the attendees.
Hou Libin, Secretary General of the Traditional Culture Education Special Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Cultural and Artistic Development and Vice President and Secretary General of the Asian Art Healing Research Institute, served as the moderator of the speech segment, introducing the guests one by one. Dong Erdan, Academician of the CAE Member and President of Rehabilitation University, Kumkom Pornprasi, Dean of the School of Arts and Applied Arts of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Jin Hui, Dean of the School of Fine Arts of Minjiang University, and Liu Dan, Dean of the School of Arts of Northeast Agricultural University, delivered passionate speeches respectively, explaining the important value and mission of art therapy in contemporary society from different dimensions.

The academic seminar is divided into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with Wang Jiansong, a professor appointed by the Academy of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University and Executive Vice President of the Qingdao Academy of Arts and Science Innovation at Tsinghua University, as well as Shi Duo, a member of the Cultural and Creative Committee of the Tsinghua Alumni Association and Executive Director of the Asian Art Healing Research Institute, serving as academic hosts.

In the morning academic seminar, Zhang Haidi, Chairman of the 5th, 6th, and 7th Presidium of the China Disabled Persons' Federation and Honorary President of the Rehabilitation University, expressed his earnest expectations for the development of art therapy through online speeches. Professor Bussakorn Binson, Director of the Master's Program in Expressive Art Therapy at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, gave a speech titled "When No One Holes the Heart, Art Does!" to deeply explain the carrying power of art in human spiritual dilemmas. Professor Kit Wise, Dean of the School of Arts at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, shared cutting-edge ideas on the topic of "Creative Care: Archives of Feeling". Xie Qihong, Director of the Training Center at the Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, proposed that art is the strongest healing agent in life, starting from the spiritual value of 'useless beauty' in the utilitarian era. Zou Zhirui, former director of the Ballet Department at Beijing Dance Academy, Wang Kaihong, dean of the School of Arts at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and Feng Ya, professor at Communication University of China, delivered keynote speeches from the perspectives of dance healing, aesthetic education immersion, and music healing, presenting a diverse and interdisciplinary academic landscape.
